Have you ever tried to lose those last few (or more than a few) inches or kilograms of extra weight you’re carrying around your waist? It can be harder than you think unless you have a personal trainer like “the commando” or a very very strong willpower.

I used to say “It’s not that important, a few kilos … ” but I know that it is INCREDIBLY IMPORTANT.

A 40% INCREASE in Heart Disease is forecast in the next decade, and one in three (1 : 3) people who suffer a heart attack DO NOT GET A SECOND CHANCE!

This “EXTRA FAT” is termed viseral fat …

Visceral fat, lies out of reach, deep within the abdominal cavity, where it pads the spaces between our abdominal organs. Visceral fat has been linked to metabolic disturbances and increased risk for cardiovascular disease and type 2 diabetes. In women, it is also associated with breast cancer and the need for gallbladder surgery. — Harvard Medical School, Feb 2007

Someone, like myself who is in the “healthy, or even very healthy weight range” for their age can have a high and alarming viseral fat level … and the chances are YOUR DOCTOR WILL NOT TELL YOU.

So what can you do?

First thing is FIND OUT WHAT YOUR VISCERAL FAT LEVEL IS – If you are in Australia, Australian Weightloss do FREE full body analysis (you may pay up to $70.00 at your doctor). It is painless, and takes less than 30 minutes. Check in your country and see what is available. Many Herbalife Independent distributors offer this free service.

Then what you can DO TO REDUCE IT – Remember that the majority of people in the developed world are chronically dehydrated and do not have the correct balance of vitamins and minerals, amino acids, proteins and trace elements in the food they eat each day. In todays modern world we all need to supplement our diets to be healthy.Fit to Walk and Talk can help you put together a ‘balanced nutritional’ plan to start reducing your viseral fat levels. Often this will involve a balance of animal and vegetable proteins, usually more than you currently are eating.

Get started on your Belly Buster Program – Having a coach will make a BIG DIFFERENCE to you achieving your desired results, or if you are confident you can follow an easy step by step plan you could try the “Belly Buster Program” from Australian Weightloss. You will also get support from one of their consultants.

If you need any help and support please contact me as I am on the journey myself and started two days ago. I am using the “Belly Buster Program” to achieve results quickly.

I just read an article in the Melbourne Age suggesting that former Prime Minister John Howard had sought US favor to have charges laid against Australian David Hicks in order to improve Howards re-election chances. I immediately said to my wife “Can this be true? W hat would possess someone to do that?”

How naive am I … it’s greed, greed, greed!

It certainly isn’t reserved for politicians either as another article spoke of mass sackings at Qantas, OneSteel and Westpac while there were massive profits declared by BHP Billiton as the mining industry continues it’s sale into the growing Asian market. Is that the same Asian market that is also contributing enormously to local and global pollution? Yes it is and it is driven by greed, greed, greed and more greed.

Buckminster Fuller is considered by many as one of the most important human beings of the twentieth century. Fuller referred to this characteristic as one of “un-evidend selfishness”. This is where a person or a company appears to be doing the ‘right thing’ and being a generous or good person however the reality is they are really only interested in getting the best result for themselves … and “stuff the rest”.

The video clip above shows a small part of John Lennon and Yoko Ono’s “Bed Peace” event in Montreal, Canada in 1969, at the same time as technology (ever accelerating change) reached a point for the first time in our human evolution where we could now provide for everyone on Earth at an unprecedented high standard of living … such that there was now no need to compete. What does it take to create a future that actually works, for everyone?

In fact competition is now detrimental to the ongoing survival and success of humanity.

A recent blog on 10billionbillionaires.org titled “How Far ‘Off-Track’ Are We … ?” looks at whether there are any leaders out there willing to declare the sort of future they are committed to creating.

Or are they just reacting to the situations as they occur and as they worsen around them?

Imagine a future (not that far away) where everyone is enjoying living there lives fully. A time when we all are able to live the lifestyle of billionaires and pursue challenges that we see need fixing. One issue that makes this future difficult for the majority to understand and comprehend is that still the vast majority of people do not understand science and technology.

However, there is a delightful way to breakthrough that challenge. It is called nature … and so I recommend you stop what you are doing and go out and sit in nature, in a park or by the beach or in a forest.

Did you know that a Humpback whale calf drinks around 400 litres of milk a day, and the mother whale does not eat for around six months losing one third of it’s size during the journey back to the feeding grounds? Who was the designer of this incredible ‘machine’?

That the trillions of phytoplankton that bloom each year, or the hundreds of millions of herring that migrate to the same area each year and lay billions of eggs that will feed nature’s cycle of lif ein almost perfect harmony … who designed all of this?

I’m very clear that we are in good hands, and we have the know how and the resources to create an amazingly prosperous future for all humankind as soon as we say so … and as soon as we let go of any need for greed, greed or even the slightest amount of greed!

Did you know that our Australian Road design regulations and safety standards kill around 1600 people and seriously injure another 22,000 every year, and while the road toll was much higher 30 years ago it has plateaued and is costing a fortune in loss of life, medical and hospital costs and associated grief and trauma counseling.

There is nothing wrong with making mistakes … in fact it is one of the best way to learn, but when we keep making the same mistakes, getting the same result and are not making effective corrections then I would ask the question “what is stopping us making changes?”

What is stopping us making the necessary changes?

We live in ‘engineered environments or domains’, whether you are on land, in or on the water or in the sky, there are serious and sometimes lethal outcomes if you do not comply with the design principles of that environment.

I believe a case could now be put for gross negligence if the responsible parties do not engineer for ‘known’ hazards or risks.

We are living in the ‘twenty first century’, decades after we successfully designed a vehicle to send humans out into space and bring them back to earth safely, which we did very successfully.

It is astounding and almost unbelievable that we have not invested a similar interest in saving thousands of ordinary people’s lives. Only idiots or the ignorant would expect that speed cameras could prevent accidents or save people’s lives.

As a past chairperson of the Road Safety subcommittee of the Risk Engineering Branch of the Institution of Engineers Australia it was obvious to me that no one was looking at the road system as a “whole system”.

Rather there are separate departments or elements looking after one component each of the system, rather than looking at the ‘system’ as a whole.

Fifteen years ago I addressed an Institution of Engineers Australia meeting of road and transport engineers and opened my address by saying “We have designed a transport system that kills 2000 people a year and seriously injures thousands more.” Many of the audience squirmed a little in their seats but that is the situation today and it shouldn’t be.

Australian race car driver Mark Weber recently crashed his Formula1 race car at 300kph and walked away, because of the design integrity of the vehicle he was in and the surrounding environment or roadway and crash barriers. One death on a race track costs a lot of money when you consider the bad PR, the inquiry and the necessary modifications to prevent it happening again.

Enormous improvements have been made over recent years by the automotive designers and their companies, however I propose the road system itself is decades away from being at an acceptable level.

Less than 5 mins from landing to driving away.

During my term as Chairman of the Road Safety sub-committee for the Risk Engineering Branch, Institution of Engineers Australia I chaired a public forum on “Future Travel” with speakers from the road authorities, car manufacturers and even an aircraft designer who proposed flying cars (now being registered in the United States) as a viable, and preferable solution to road transport.

Perhaps he was right.

There were also many innovative ‘systems’ shown, including one that Mitsubishi Motors were trialling that prevented a car from going off the road, and another that as soon as the car detected the driver was losing attention the car applied the brakes and pulled over.

Sounds a bit ‘far fetched’? It isn’t actually because we’ve had the technology for years now and the cost of installing the required computerized control systems is getting even less everyday! Back 15 years ago a motor industry representative at the public forum in Melbourne said that the use of computerized control systems to prevent accidents is the most cost effective solution to reducing road accidents.

The savings in lives saved and property damage are massive.

The lag time between something being possible and then being accepted under our current competitive context (our economies often determine what we are willing to allow, rather than how preferable the option is) can be many years … and some viable solutions have evidently been ‘moth balled’ or put on the shelf.

That is where R Buckminster Fuller was able to produce ‘break through design’ after break through design.

Take his Dimaxion House for instance which the US Government commissioned him to build after the second world war to help with the housing shortage and help to provide alternative employment for those employed in the war effort.

The house was designed so that it was hurricane proofed, flood proofed and intruder proofed, and 3600 orders came in overnight when it was first advertised, but its development was stopped by economic ‘bullying’ from two powerful unions, the plumbers and gas fitters union and electrical trades union who refused to connect the ‘mass produced’ fully shop assembled houses unless they could remove all the plumbing and electrical wiring and re-install it.

The completed houses were being helicopter delivered to the residential block of land, with a central service core and foundation poured that then only required connection. The cost of one of these houses was about the same as an average motor vehicle and was fully recyclable. The year was 1946.

Are we actually learning anything, or is greed and selfishness still controlling the options you have and costing thousands and thousands of lives?

Then there is the Dimaxion omni-vehicle built in 1933 that Buckminster Fuller intended would eventually travel on land, sea and in the air. Three proto-types were built to test the ground taxi-ing capabilities.

Although the omni-vehicle didn’t go into commercial production many lessons were learned from it. However it was still termed a “failure” because it didn’t make money.

Given that a value of around $2million is put on a human life (loss of productive life) try estimating the losses from the current road transport system with thousands of lives lost and massive property damage occurring each year in the developed world and many times that in developing countries like India.

What options do we have?

First understand that it is possible to have a road system that serves all road users and does not unnecessarily take lives.

Secondly, we must design a road transport system that has zero deaths. It will require a NEW way of thinking but the financial benefits alone are staggeringly ENORMOUS.

Thirdly we must be prepared to accept that it is a TRANSPORT System we are designing and not an etertainment system. For entertainment get yourself a Playstation or some other ‘virtual’ game. No one and absolutely no one will be allowed to threaten the life of another person using our New Transport System.

All of this is highly feasible and desirable and could be implemented within a ten year design period. Are you willing to have a future with (close to) zero fatalities and road trauma?

It is so EASY and enjoyable to be well ... plus the benefits of maintaining a healthy weight are enormous! One of my doctor friends said that the worst term many doctors use when diagnosing a patient is "... for a person your age."
It is so EASY and enjoyable to be well … plus the benefits of maintaining a healthy weight are enormous!

One of my doctor friends said that the worst term many doctors use when diagnosing a patient is “... for a person your age.” Sure, age will have measurable affects on the way we perform but often doctors compare you to the ‘norm’ for your age, rather than what you could be like if you knew how easy it was to be well.

Now you can put the best fuel in! (click here)

A recent US report states that the average American family spends around $12oo a month on health insurance. Not every one can afford $1200 a month and so 50 million American’s have no health insurance and so limited access to health care. In Australia we have a very similar situation developing. These people who miss out are often the very people who need health care the most.

Overweight and obesity = Heart Disease

Everyone knows PREVENTION costs far less than the cure … and yet the cost of fresh foods, fruit and vegetables and local fish and meat that we are told we should be eating is rising sharply. The cost of low nutrition foods, fast foods and empty calorie foods seem to be a lot less but of course they cost you in the long run.

So WHY are an increasing number of people all ’round the world having difficulty controlling their weight, and maintaining their health … the two go hand in hand, with over 120 preventable diseases now being directly connected to overweight and obesity?

“Whenever there is pain in society there is usually huge profits being made.” — businessman and entrepreneur Robert Kiyosaki

Wow … surely people wouldn’t want to make a profit on someone’s pain would they?

Well yes they would, and it seems to be happening more and more as technology, the internet and media leverage makes it less and less expensive to get your message out to the masses.

One of the early reports I read on the state of world health was the WHO Report in 1997 titled “Conquering suffering, enriching humanity”. You may ask yourself … “so why hasn’t this happened?”

A company’s primary interest is in making a PROFIT, that’s why.

Extract from WHO Report in 1997 titled "Conquering suffering, enriching humanity"

There is an EASY solution if you do want to be well.

Find a company like I did that profits from YOU BEING WELL.

Makes sense doesn’t it … instead of a company (like pharmaceutical / drug companies) that profits from you being sick, or unwell! It is a matter of chosing which ‘stream’ you will follow … the ill-health / sickness stream (very expensive, painful and with no bright future) or the wellness stream (very affordable, saves you money, vital and has a really bright future in store for you).

The wellness company that I found is HERBALIFE INTERNATIONAL …

If you’d like to know about them click here.

They are a leading nutrition company and the world’s No1 weightloss company.

See it is so simple when you understand what your complex machine (the human body) does … it creates 20billion new cells every day to replace those that die, and the quality of these new cells (our future health) very much depends on the quality of the FUEL we feed them. It isn’t rocket science, but it is sure is reassuring to know that the best scientists in the human nutrition industry spend their time creating the fuel for my body.

I’d like you to feel great too … and if you are up to the challenge simply contact me here and I will arrange for a full 30day Money Back Guarantee on the products you choose.

You can feel free to trial the best nutritional and weightloss products your money can buy.

How I Gained 41 years … And How You Can Too!

Last night I had a full body scan done. Ever heard of them?

It tells you just about everything you can think of that is about your body … your height and your weight you usually know but these get ‘plugged in’ to the machine I was standing on. Then I waited a few seconds while a tiny electric current passes around my body, I just love TECHNOLOGY and how easily and quickly it does it’s job.

Then I’m told to “step off the machine” and the operator starts recording MY RESULTS, including my METABOLIC AGE, or how old my body appears to be.

Aging and health care are certainly two of the BIGGEST concerns to individuals and governments alike.

Individuals generally want to stay feeling as young as they can, for as long as they can and governments are having to find more and more money for aged care and hospitals. Part of the problem is that the majority of people simply don’t know how to stay healthy and vital.

If they actually knew HOW SIMPLY IT ACTUALLY IS they would scream!

One of the worst things that can happen as we age is to contract a debilitating disease or to suffer a serious injury, especially if you live in a country such as Australia or the United States with expensive health care. Many people just cannot afford to get sick in these countries, but a rapidly increasing number of people are getting sick.

At a recent medical seminar I attended one doctor described how scientists had now linked 120 preventable diseases to being overweight or obese … and they are finding more and more.

One of my mentors always said, “If something seems complicated people are probably making huge profits.”

Health and ill-health seems complicated … but is it really?

People all over the world are in enormous pain because too much FOCUS is being placed on the problem of ill-health, and not enough attention is being given to maintaining excellent health … which as I said earlier is so so SIMPLE, and inexpensive to boot!

I’m one of millions of examples all around the world of ordinary people enjoying amazing health.

So here is what I got when I stepped off the machine …

Body fat @ 13.9% which is very very good.

Hydration @ 55.9% also good but my goal is up around 60%.

Muscle mass @ 76.4kgs again very good … I exercise regularly.

Bone mass @ 3.9kgs is excellent and yes, I do use the best calcium supplements available in case I’m not getting enough Ca in my food.

Visceral fat @ 9 is not as good as it will be as I still have around 6kgs to drop.

My Basal Metabolic AGE @ ???? … 18

Wow, I was surprised that it was this low. Yes, I am a health and weightloss coach myself but I do ‘enjoy life’ (food, wine, chocolate especially) a bit more than I feel I sometimes should and at AGE 59 that’s a 41 year gap!

So what do I do that is so EASY and that if you knew how easy you would probably scream?

Two things …

First is that I have exercised almost every day of my life, especially exercising first thing in the morning to boost my metabolism and help maintain my body-weight BUT this is only 20% responsible for good health.

The other 80% is due to the nutrition, the fuel that you feed your body to allow it to reproduce HEALTHY NEW CELLS everyday. Twenty billion new cells every day … if you don’t feed your body all that well then it will reproduce the best it can, not as healthy as it could have been. Do that over a period of time and you start suffering from ‘premature aging’ and you become susceptible to many preventable diseases.

The only reason people do not use a balanced nutrition program is they don’t understand the basics of how their body works and what it needs on a daily basis.

Some people have been told it is expensive to take nutrition on a regular basis … that’s not my experience. It’s expensive not to incorporate supplementation into you diet.

In fact you can save money doing it wisely. Click here for more information.

Can You Cure Mental Disease With Sugar?

I think you know the obvious answer … NO you can’t. So when our diets are heavily laden with sugar, especially refined sugar and we have a rapid increase in many preventable diseases (including depression) I feel we would get much better “bang for our investment buck” by studying the causes rather than focusing on the symptoms.

A little over ten years ago I ran into the former Victorian Premier Mr Jeff Kennett at a petrol station. He had just paid his account and picked up a ‘slab’ (slang for two dozen cans) of Diet Coke, put it onto his shoulder and walked towards his car.

He turned around and our eyes met … so I walked towards him and introduced myself as a health and lifestyle coach. I asked Mr Kennett if he had purchased the Diet Coke for him, and if so was he hoping it would help control his weight.

He replied “Yes and yes.”

I mentioned that there are medical reports (freely available) disclosing health concerns about the drink and that those reports evidently showed that when the participants of the study stopped drinking the Diet Coke they actually lost weight. Mr Kennett then said “Would I be better off drinking the normal Coke?”

Mmmm … I said that water was a much better choice and he put the slab of diet cola in the boot of his car and we said good bye.

I remember this event so clearly because shortly after our chance meeting Mr Kennett announced he had founded an organisation to help manage depression … called Beyond Blue. Like many of us Mr Kennett was also dealing with relationship challenges, and at one point I believe a marital separation, something few people have been given the tools to deal powerfully with. Without adequate tools often eating, drinking or something worse comes into play.

NOW MY QUESTION WAS … “Can You Cure Mental Disease With Sugar?”

You already know the answer don’t you?

No, you cannot cure mental disease with sugar!

In fact there is much evidence linking increased consumption of refined sugar to many many health problems, some of which are mental diseases.

One of the major problems with refined sugar (and there are no benefits that I could see) is that it is devoid of nutrition … what they call empty calories and that having sugar is actually worse than having nothing at all.

Read more about how sugar affects you by clicking here.

Read more about the dangers of refined sugar by clicking here.

Over the past one hundred years the average sugar consumption in Australia has risen from 10lbs per person per year to over one hundred pounds … a 1000% increase.

What I find alarming is that ignorant people in powerful positions are able to receive funding for seemingly worthwhile projects (and I know that much assistance and funding support is needed is certain areas of mental illness) which have either been caused by or allowed to develop by a very blatant and greedy economic stimulus … in this case, not from the tobacco industry but the sugar industry.

The US Health Department warns that the maximum sugar intake by an adult should be no more than nine teaspoons per day … have one can of Coke, or a Red Bull and that’s it, you have already exceeded you daily allowance. For a child under eight years it is three teaspoons of sugar … and a small glass of orange juice with breakfast contains more sugar than that.

Add in the ‘roll ups’, box of juice, muesli bar, cookies, ice cream and cakes and the sugar load is extreme.

I propose we cannot continue to grow more sugar … produce more processed, sugar laden foods and pump money into trying to contain the out of balance behaviors for very long.

Next time you are at the supermarket take more notice of what people are putting into their shopping trolleys and you have a choice … help by informing those people if you feel it is appropriate. I often let people know that the plain yogurt has much less sugar than the flavored varieties, is better for them and tastes great when you add some frozen berries yourself.

There is a growing Ethical Marketplace over at Your Healthy Planet.com … click here to take a look.

And remember, that if you aren’t willing to help directly then your tax dollars will be paying for their ill-health.

Beware of ANZ and High Interest Rate Loans!

It is not that long ago that were encouraged to SAVE … save for what we wanted.

That all changed and ANZ bank as one of the big 4 banks is a leader in encouraging debt. But so do CBC, AMEX, NAB, Virgin Credit, Westpac and many others. To understand the banking industry is something few busy people ever do. Even on the ANZ Home loans website they say “Comparing banking products can be confusing and time consuming.”

But isn’t this just great how the ANZ Homeloans page is simply covered in “zeros”, like:

“$0 monthly account service fee …” and

“$0 annual credit card account fee …”

Wouldn’t be any ‘trickery’ there would there? Surely not, not the ANZ bank now.

Zero’s are easy to understand … well, they used to be.

So even though we don’t understand banking products well … they ‘consume’ our lives.

Home loans, car loans, personal loans, credit cards and on and on … each with different interest rates, different terms and conditions and policies. Come on, be honest here.

Who actually reads all of the fine print? Does anyone?

You would assume the ANZ and other banks do, or is it only their solicitors who understand them?

One of the JP Morgan family said that if you want to make money and become rich you must make things complex and complicated.

Banks like ANZ have made an art form out of confusion and evidently they are all in bed with each other, as we saw at the height of the recent GFC (no that’s not the Geelong Football Club … it stands for Global Financial Crisis). Do you remember that only one bank was sacrificed … and it came as a shock to the others. They thought they were all safe … safety in numbers I suppose.

About five years ago I had taken out an ANZ loan … it was very easy to apply for, no hoops to go through, or ladders to climb. At the time I was heavily involved in creating a new movement called Your Healthy Planet.com, all about us working together for the benefit of everyone.

Is that the same philosophy of the banks … like ANZ? Don’t think so!

Banks play “win as much as we can … and screw you.”

If you haven’t personally seen or felt the ramifications of this philosophy I hope you never do, but many have and that may be losing your house, losing your business, declaring bankruptcy, having possessions repossessed and in some cases even worse.

ANZ bank still charges very high interest rates (my loan is 19.74%) at a time when the US Federal Reserve has continued its ZERO interest rate to encourage growth and spending. It seems like a very sick ‘puppy’ this whole banking system and so I am interested to find out if there are any financial organisations out there that do care for their clients, and will work with them rather than “screw them” like the ANZ bank.

In fairness to two other banks that I had dealings with … Westpac and AMEX both reduced the interest rates on my outstanding loans, assisting in their repayment.

If you do have personal experience with an organisation you would happily recommend to your friends or family please let me know.

I would not recommend the ANZ to anyone.

The project for completion of Your Healthy Planet.com took almost two years longer than our initial estimates. My wife often said “I can’t believe we are still working towards completing this, no one else would do this.”

She still loves me … and it has been very hard road, but one of our mentors is that amazing human being, the late R Buckminster Fuller and just one of the many things he said was:

“Don’t fight the existing reality, but rather create a new reality, one that makes the old one obsolete.”

Today, we have the resources and the know-how on our small planet to provide a high standard of living to every man, woman and child on earth, without disadvantaging anyone.

We have had this capacity now for over forty years, but few people know it is so.

The existing paradigm of having some people WIN at the expense of others does not work anymore … it is no longer the truth, and it is no longer integrity.

Buckminster Fuller also made it very clear, “If humanity does not opt for integrity we are through completely. It is absolutely touch and go. Each one of us could make the difference.”

If you have faith in human beings then I encourage you and invite you to join others taking responsibility … join us in a new movement and let’s create your healthy planet for your children and their children too.

In fact how can you have “more for more (people)” … in a world that we are told has ‘finite resources’, you simple can’t?

Unless you are also “doing more with less”, and there are certainly good examples of this all around the world. Look at the brief video below and you will see examples of artificial limbs (can cost $20,000 each) now being produced for as little as $28 each … yes, just $28 each. See the family motor car produced for just $2,000 and enough room for tall men and women to travel in comfort, or the laptop computer for $100.

How is all this possible?

Some four or five decades ago we entered a new era … a comprehensive design revolution has begun, producing “more with less”, and less every day. Because 99% or more of these changes are invisible (the technology cannot be readily seen) the vast majority of people are not aware that the change is accelerating exponentially.

Combine this accelerating change of ‘invisible’ technology with the massive expansion of the networking industry (especially via the internet) and we have an unstoppable almost exploding expansion of wealth and access to this wealth.

You may not understand this yet, and that is OK … the important thing is to allow the thought that we can and will all “make it successfully” to wash around in your conscious and unconscious thoughts.

Or let labor grab it?

Australian-weightloss article proposes a NEW “Health Bonus” could be on the way. Earlier comments from Prime Minister Rudd certainly stresses the concern over skyrocketing health costs, or as another article put it a “tidal wave of preventable diseases”.

The baby bonus met with better than expected results …

It is well proven that “reward systems” do achieve much better results and are certainly more cost effective than the old conventional “penal systems” which you see all around the world continuing to extract more and more tax payers hard earned money.

They say that a LEADER is not necessarily the one out the front wielding the machete and cutting his way through the jungle, but rather the one who climbs the tallest tree and is willing to yell “we are in the wrong jungle”.

Australia has also recently been host to Internationally renowned Professor Susan Greenfield, a neuro-scientist and author. Much of her work is aimed at predicting the onset of debilitating (and often preventable) brain disease such as dementia and Alzheimers. In her Press Club address she quoted a figure of $67 billion in potential savings over forty years if we can delay the effect of these brain diseases on Australian for say five years.

She and her team are working on a predictive type of ‘marker’ that could tell your doctor you are likely to suffer a debilitating disease like Parkinson’s, dementia or Alzheimers and put you on a new medication (not yet discovered) which will delay the onset of the disease.

My concern is very much that “we get what we FOCUS our attention on … ” and to be investing large sums of research dollars on this type of research and medication is at best doubtful.

Professor Greenfield makes the point that these debilitating brain diseases are not an aging disease. In other words you don’t get them just because you have reached a mature age. She said they are a disease of the aged, in other words usually they affect older people.

What she did not speak about (and no reporter asked the question) is are there deficiencies that can lead to a higher likelihood of having brain disease?

Nobel Prize Laureate Dr Loius Ignarro has taken a different tact … looking at prevention. Firstly for heart disease which is one if our top preventable diseases and his research and subsequent development of a ‘natural’ product also has some “very nice” side effects (actually there are a number of beneficial side effects).

Some of these side affects include positive impacts on ‘preventing’ brain disease.

His research into the importance of NO production as we age and the effect on our circulatory system (heart disease) has been worthy of a Nobel Prize. Part of the discovery includes, just as Professor Greenfield also mentioned, the beneficial effects of more oxygen to your brain.

I have now used Niteworks, the product Dr Ignarro’s (et al) research led to for almost two years and it is amazing.

At 58 years young, I am looked at by many as a man some twenty years younger. The side effects some that have attributed the nickname “the grandfather of Viagra” to Dr Ignarro … but of course his product Niteworks is natural and incredibly low cost.

What has Niteworks and Dr Ignarro’s research got to do with a NEW Health Bonus?

Imagine that you received an extra say $300/month as a health bonus to spend on staying healthy. What would you spend it on? Perhaps a gym membership and some nutritional products, a regular fortnightly massage and some organic vegetables.

At present many people buy foods that do not support good health and often they do so because of price, and many people do not benefit from regular massage or other therapies because they can’t squeeze it into their budget.

If economist Paul Zane Pilzer is right, our future governments will all be focusing on prevention and in doing so they will turn around massive debts in record time.

An advertising directory called Your Healthy Planet.com has taken this “rewards bonus” idea to an entirely new level by financially rewarding those who focus attention on the healthy, green and sustainable aspects of their products or services. It is FREE to join and certainly worth exploring.

Is Sugar Poisoning You?

Everyone knows someone with Type 2 diabetes … but I will bet you they don’t know the effects, like kidney failure, blindness and amputation of your limbs.

Why do I say that? Because we keep eating the same foods and consuming the drinks that are laden with sugar, like eight to ten teaspoons of sugar in one can. It is so well disguised … and apparently it’s addictive.

And it can be a challenge, because often the foods can look and sound healthy, “muesli bars”, “flavored yogurt”, “fruit juices” … WOW!

How much sugar do you consume each day?

Is it ten teaspoons (one can of soda or two glasses of fruit juice) or more?
